Who knew a little pill could cause so much damage?

There is a monstrously damaging epidemic in our midst. Its sufferers tend to be “good patients” following doctors’ orders. Perhaps their doctor prescribed Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin, Paxil, Celexa — a benzodiazepine or an SSRI. Perhaps the drug was given to calm nerves, promote sleep, buoy moods, or just to make life a little easier. Too often these good patients begin to experience strange symptoms and develop mysterious illnesses that plague them for years, upending their lives. Too often they are told that the drugs could not be their problem. Following personal stories and investigating growing evidence to the contrary, As Prescribed questions the prescribing practices and consequences of these common, not-so-innocent drugs.
